Stone Circle in Ulster County, New York.
An unusual stone circle located atop a hill within a mall strip in Kingston, New York, adjacent to 400 Kings Mall Court. Discovered during development of the mall strip, and still largely intact.
[In 2002, a survey team led by arborist Fred Breglia (Landis Arboretum,) spotted what naturalist David Yarrow (New York Old Growth Forest Association) described as "some pretty significant big, old oak trees, but not a whole lot else" on the site, but they also found a partially obscured collection of boulders on the western edge of the then-proposed development.
The City of Kingston acknowledges the rock formation is likely man-made, and asserted in an environmental impact study performed on the site that was a Neolithic-era stone shelter. (Yarrow disagrees, placing the date as much as 7,000 years closer to the modern era, although he believes the area to be part of a "magnetic matrix.")
Looking at the aerial photo provided, the stones are extremely regular and laid on top of a naturally occuring stone pavement on this ridgetop.
