Hillfort in Buckinghamshire. The prehistoric hillfort known as Danesfield Camp, or Danes Ditches, occupies a broad chalk outcrop from the Chiltern plateau on the north bank of the River Thames, approximately 1km to the north east of the village of Medmenham. The site offers a clear vantage point onto the river, and wide views across the flood plain into Berkshire.

The hillfort is roughly rectangular in plan, measuring approximately 300m east to west by 250m north to south, and was originally enclosed by ramparts on three sides. The fourth side was defined by a natural chalk cliff rising some 30m from the level of the river.
