In a strip of forest between two arable land to the north of the village of Ostervesede in the so-called 'Eik' there are four prehistoric tumuli. They form the remains of what was previously a larger barrow cemetery. In terms of size and texture, they can be dated to the Bronze Age. However, it cannot be ruled out that there are still graves from the Single Grave culture in them.
There is an information board near the graves along the way to them. However, you can only reach them directly over the field. It is difficult to determine whether the stones I photographed are stones from the former stone settings of the tumuli. However, their size is impressive (they are almost 'torso-large').
There are various stone axes, flint daggers and bronze objects come from the fields of Ostervesede. A bronze dagger and a flint sickle from the nearby 'Zechornsmoor' are probably to be regarded as laying down sacrifices.
In the Lower Saxony Monument Atlas the tumuli have the IDs: 28920854, 28920963, 28920964 and 28920975
