The Chlodwig-Stele is a modern standing stone in Zülpich (North Rhine-Westphalia/Germany). It was created by the artist Ulrich Rückriem in 1999.

The idea was born in 1996 in the context of the 1500-year anniversary of the Battle of Tolbiac, which most likely took place in Zülpich in 496. The Franks, who were lead by Clovis I (Chlodwig I), defeated the Alamanni. This was the foundation for the Frankish kingdom, which covered most parts of today`s France and Germany. Moreover, Clovis I converted to Christianity, because he thought that he owed his victory to the Christian god.

The 7 m tall granite stele is located at the former battle field.

It seems that Ulrich Rückriem often comes close to megalithic aesthetics.
