Standing Stone (Menhir) in Bohemia

Beautiful mountains of Šumava (AKA Bohemian Forest) is a vast piece of protected unspoilt wild in the southern part of Bohemia. This deep and impenetrable forest were well known even to the Roman forces as a land "Gabreta" - inhabited by the mighty celtic tribe of "Boii". BTW according "Boii" got all the country its name Boiohaemum - Bohemia.

One of the few standing stones of Šumava is located about one mile NW of the lovely Modrava village. Menhir can be found on a moorland slope above the main tourist trail and just a few steps from the Roklansky creek.

Surprisingly few information can be found about the stone. According one source it was re-erected in 2005 after being found lost in the ditch.
