This Shinto shrine in the mountainous area is dedicated strangely to marine deities. In mid 7th century, the land lord of this area was mobilized to the fight back against the Silla's battleships, when their ship was almost wrecked by a storm, numerous abalones came from the bottom of the sea and pushed the ship back to the port. The shrine has a dry landscape garden which might symbolize the sea.
