The National Museum of Vietnamese History (Vietnamese: Viện Bảo tàng Lịch sử Việt Nam) is located in the Hoan Kiem district of Hanoi, Vietnam. The museum highlights Vietnam's prehistory (about 30.000–40.000 years ago) up to the August 1945 Revolution. It has over 200.000 exhibits displayed covering items from prehistory up to the 1947 revolution and founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, arranged in 4 major sections.

The archaeologists discovered more than 1,000 stone objects, including tools for cutting, chopping and grinding.

Ancient copper furnaces recently unearthed at an archaeological site in Dong Anh, in the north of Ha Noi, have shed important light on the Metal Age, according to archaeologists. Among artefacts found at the site are copper objects, cinders, broken pieces of pottery, pans and tripods – which were probably part of a traditional kitchen.

Xom Ren Bronze Age site gets national heritage listing in Vietnam

The site was discovered at Ren Village, Phu Ninh District in the northern province of Phu Tho in 1958, and now joins the nation’s 2,800 other recorded national heritage sites. Archaeologists have dated the settlement back to the Phung Nguyen Culture, between 3,500-4,000 years ago, just at the beginning of the Bronze Age.

Ancient Cham citadel found in Ba Ria

Archaeologists have discovered the remains of an ancient Cham citadel in Xuyen Moc District in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. Buried at a depth of 1-1.5m in Go Cat Village, the brick citadel is 400m long and 300m wide and appears to have been built 1,400-1,600 years ago.

Highlands discoveries may be three millennia old

Archaeologists have confirmed that artefacts found in Buon Rau village, Hoa Tien Commune, in Krong Pak (Dac Lac) are as much as 3,000 years old. Local farmers first unearthed what they thought to be antique ceramics and stone tools in 2001 while planting coffee and pepper. They passed them to Dac Lac museum and archaeologists began excavating a 1.5ha site in Buon Rau in 2003.
