One of the three dolmen groups in South Korea registered as UNESCO World Heritage sites. 596 dolmens spread on both slopes along 2km of the the Bojeomjae pass. Different to another of the World Heritage locations the Gochang dolmens, Hwasun sites are grouped around each outstanding dolmen or quarry, as follows:

]]>Like Eunhyeonni-ni cairn, it is not clear if this cairn is a chambered cairn or a Buddhist pyramid. It is called in Korea generally, “‘So-called’ mausoleum of King Guhyeong”. King Guhyeong was the last king of Geumgwan Gaya which was a member of the Gaya confederacy i.e. small kingdoms on the southern shore of the Korean peninsula, annexed by United Silla Kingdom.

]]>A dolmen located in Yongsan-ri, Buan-myeon, Gochang-gun, South Korea. It is located in front of the pavilion at the west entrance of Yongsan Village. During the Japanese colonial era, others tried to move dolmens to build roads. But the villagers were strongly opposed to moving it. This is because the location of the rock was good for the theory of divination based on topography. Thanks to this, dolmens were preserved.
