]]>Further along the road to Ty-Lia allee couverte (see previous) after 100 yards a 5 foot standing stone is visible on the left. Walk through a gateway and the stone is under a tree, with three smaller stones nearby to the south on the other side of the tree and hedge.

]]>A fairly complete allée couverte, well signposted and in a little grassy area on the island of Ile-Grande, just off the coast near Trebeurden. It is about 9 metres long by 1.5 metres wide, and oriented to 110°. There are two large capstones which cover most of the chamber.

]]>Despite looking very difficult to get to on my maps, this lateral entry allée couverte to the southwest of Loguivy is actually very easy to find, as a new housing developement has been made, with the roads through it signposted to the allée couverte, and then a little trackway made up to it.

This is a massively long passage grave, built in at least two different ages, and much repaired/restored with slabs of concrete. ]]>Not far off the busy road between Morlaix and Roscoff, this Tee shaped allée couverte is apparently a very good example of the type, but it has become very overgrown and unloved, almost part of its surrounding field.

]]>NEWS UPDATE - A truck destroyed this stone by crashing into it. The pieces have been gathered and French archaeological services are working to repair it in due course. A menhir near the hamlet of Le Faget, in the commune of Mayrac, Lot. We have just received this photo and the terrible news that it has been completely demolished and removed. ]]>A Middle Neolithic hilltop camp at Cap Blanc-Nez, where France comes closest to England, excavated in 2010-2011 by INRAP. The site produced more than 1,500 kg of worked flint, 200 kg of animal bone, human remains, and several thousand litres of marine shells from a ditch dating to c. 4200-3800 BCE. The scale of the assemblage points to sustained, intensive occupation of this chalk headland overlooking the Channel.

]]>A delightful holy well sat just below the church in Loquenole. The main well is situated under an archway of stone, then an apron creates a sunken garden with stone channels leaving. The adjacent church is well worth a look with a carved foliage head on the door (pic on our page).
