]]>A 17th Century gatepost. An information board along the ginnel provides information and illustrations about the site. There are actually two posts - the stones were part of the Cookridge Grange Hall Estate and currently mark the entrance of a ginnel on Cookridge Drive.

]]>Recent damage to this rock art panel. You can't see the Teaspoon, the light was dreadful but it's there, and I think the scouring has damaged a cup mark. It wasn't pleasant to find, writes Seán. Rock Art in West Yorkshire. TNA says the rock contains "one cup with groove running outwards — which we can see quite plainly ... There may be as many as four other cups on this rock, though it’s hard to say for sure. Two of them, perhaps, may have a very worn line linking them together ... but again, this is hard to say for sure."

]]>Another nearby rock art panel with damage is Teaspoon Rock (Boughey & Vickerman 104). Seán Dillon writes: This cup marked stone was completely upended and scoured by heavy machinery during brush cutting. Fortunately the damage seen here is to the underside of the stone. Whoever has been up to check the damage from the estate attempted to reposition the completely upended 4 cupper, and has packed some heather into the top and filled the hole in, in a crude attempt to make it look like it had never been moved, unfortunately in the process the cups are now level with the ground and not on top as they should be, plus one cup has been destroyed, either during the works or when they were repositioning it. A stone with four cup marks on Stanbury Hill, Bingley Moor. Part of Group 2: on the west side of the hill.

]]>Drastic brush cutting with heavy machinery has damaged this lovely rock art panel - the photo shows chipping to the right of the main carving, and scratch marks around the top three cups.. One of the cup marked stones on Stanbury Hill, Bingley Moor, also known as the Lunar Stone. Part of Group 2: on the west side of the hill. Consisting of several cup-and-rings, as well as a double-ring, it is found amidst a small cluster of equally impressive, albeit very different carved rocks.

]]>This large carved stone (and a number of other similarly carved smaller stones around it) are mentioned in Paul Bennett's 'The Old Stones of Elmet' (2003) but I can find no mention of them elsewhere. The largest of the stones carries over a hundred cup marks, but unusually mostly on the western and southern vertical faces. They are very clearly incised.

One of five examples of stone sculptures in Yorkshire that seem to show Wayland the Smith strapped into the ‘flying contrivance’ he used to escape King Níðuðr. Leeds City Museum, originally established in 1819, reopened in 2008 in Leeds, West Yorkshire. Housed in the former Mechanics' Institute built by Cuthbert Brodrick in Cookridge Street (now Millennium Square). One of nine sites in the Leeds Museums & Galleries group.
