Dolmen des Oeillantes 1
Dolmen des Oeillantes 1 submitted by greywether : This is the first dolmen you come to as you approach from the road and is the better preserved of the two. Six ton capstone. July 2002 (Vote or comment on this photo)
Oeillantes dolmen 1 is the biggest dolmen of Oeillantes dolmens group (or Bois Communal dolmens). Its capstone weights about 5 tons.

This megalithic group counts 6 dolmens but only dolmens 1 and 2 have kept a good conservation. Other 4 dolmens are hidden in the oak woods.

Near to this group, there are the Dévèze group (4 dolmens + 1 isolated dolmen) and Serre de Fabre dolmens (3 ruined dolmens).

Unhappily, the dolmens are difficult to find without a good book or a local guide. There are about 14-16 dolmens near Barjac all built with limestone slabs. The major part of these megaliths is ruined. Some kilometres further, we enter Ardèche "département" which counts... (Vote or comment on this photo)
