I have visited· I would like to visit

TheCaptain couldn't find on 17th May 2005 - their rating: Cond: 1 Amb: 2 Access: 4 On top of a hillock near a junction of lanes to the west of La Roche Vernaise is a big jumble of large stones. It is hard to know whether this is the actual dolmen, or just a load of field clearance stones, but it was the only likely candidate I found in this area. Perhaps it has all been fairly recently all moved to the edges of the fields. There is a lot of stone, so perhaps it was a fairly big dolmen, at least 10 metres in length. It is difficult to know. I don't think I actually found the real dolmen, which is perhaps a bit to the north of here.

La Roche Vernaise
La Roche Vernaise submitted by Rubis : In fact, at first view, it seems to have two dolmens. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The two dolmens of La Roche Vernaise can be found in the park of the chateau, by following "le sentier des dolmens" (which is a route for bicycles) or by following allée du dolmen in the middle of the village Roche Vernaize.

The hamlet of La Roche Vernaise is built upon a rock and there is a natural deposit of stones in the woods that belong to the castle.

You can visit the dolmen :

by taking "impasse du Dolmen" in the hamlet, cross the woods by following the path.

by taking the dirt track after the last house of the hamlet on the left. At this track, there is a post sign "dolmen de la Roche Vernaise, 250 mètres''.
