Chambered Cairn in Lewis. The remains of a Chambered Cairn on a private croft to the North of Breasclete. The four largest stones are about 1 meter or more in height, and are set in an arc about 5 meters across.

Other small stones are testament to the quarrying of the Cairn and later destruction of what must have been an imposing tomb located on its small hill.

The name translates as 'Hillock of the Prince', which suggests to me a vestige of memory regarding it's status in the area. All in all, this little ruin is just another of the ingredients which enriches any trip to the area around Callanish.

(The croft is private land, and permission must be obtained from the crofter, if a close visit is intended)

Cnoc a Phrionnsa submitted by SumDoood : You can imagine it, can't you, tacking down Loch Rog an Ear on your way home from a trading trip with the midsummer sun setting behind you and lighting this massive chambered cairn which holds your gaze as the breeze fades away and you have to start paddling.
