Castle Ring (Derbyshire) submitted by Paultopia : There's a public footpath that runs right next to the sight, but the farmer didn't mind me having a closer look at the earthworks when I asked him. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Castle Ring (Derbyshire)
Castle Ring (Derbyshire) submitted by postman : On our way out we thanked the lady of the farm for letting us walk round her farm despite the cows , and she thanked us for asking, we thanked her for thanking us she thanked us again and we were off. Many thanks. An under visited site despite being so close to the much visited stones and Stride. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Trendle Ring
Trendle Ring submitted by mattimpey : What I think is Trendle Ring on a ridge of a Quantock hillside. It is a single ditch and rampart enclosure about 130m above sea level.

Castle Ring (Stitt Hill) submitted by TimPrevett : A composite of the northern arc of the prehistoric animal enclosure at Stitt Hill, showing main rampart, and ditch. Looking west towards The Stiperstones ridge.

Castle Ring (Derbyshire)
Castle Ring (Derbyshire) submitted by nicoladidsbury : View up to Castle Ring Hillfort from the Limestone Way path near Youlgreave. Its possible to make out the turf banks, topped with a drystone wall. The hill is very steep sided, giving a very well defended site. The Limestone Way path continues up the side of the hill underneath Castle Ring, although there is no access to the fort as it is on private land.

Castle Ring (Derbyshire)
Castle Ring (Derbyshire) submitted by TimPrevett : The westernmost ditch, with dry stone wall on top of the tallest rampart. The views to the N and NW from here are commanding, even on a grey day such as this. The town of Youlgreave was clearly visible, and the adjoining field to the west, which was open and 'rolling' very much reminded me of Wiltshire.

Castle Ring (Staffordshire)
Castle Ring (Staffordshire) submitted by TimPrevett : Castle Ring SK045128 On the NW side looking to the W; there has been extensive clearance of trees and invading rhododendron around the ring; unfortunately, despite it being the highest part of Cannock Chase, the only part with a panoramic view, looks towards (Rugeley?) Power Station! Castle Ring was actually recommended to me by a colleague at work who does not know of my stones / pre-histor...

Castle Ring (Staffordshire)
Castle Ring (Staffordshire) submitted by TimPrevett : Castle Ring SK045128 This part is from the NE side, looking to the SW, which is where you first enter the monument from the car park. The area in the foreground is actually dominated by the footings of rectilinear buildings, which I assume must be much later than the monument itself. You might be able to make out the straight lines in the grass. Castle Ring was actually recommended to me by ...

Castle Ring (Stiperstones)
Castle Ring (Stiperstones) submitted by w650marion : Castle Ring Hillfort, surrounded by steep precipitous slopes on all sides apart from a saddle just visible in the distance. It's a long walk to it!

Castle Ring (Stiperstones)
Castle Ring (Stiperstones) submitted by w650marion : Looking down onto the cross ridge rampart and ditch, and the offset entrance through them. To access the hillfort, you have to walk in a large circuit to reach the path visible on the middle of the left hand side of the photo.
