Swedish stone
Swedish stone submitted by ladrin : Swedish stone south of the village Kamenice in Sokolv region. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Well hidden in the forest south of the little village of Kamenice, Bohemia, the stone is not even known to all the local people. And those who know it, call it simply the "Swedish stone".

There is a local legend about the Thirty Years' War battle and a grave of 23 Swedish soldiers. But other records show that there were no Swedes nor any battle. And because of a lack of any expert research, this stone remainins quite a mystery.

Anyway this hard sand stone is about 160 cm tall and stands on an artificial mound or little hill. There is a visible carving of a cross and the number 23. These are the only known facts.

By the way some other interesting mound or grave-like objects are located in the vicinity of the stone.

Well...such a contradictory information are definitely not good ones.. There is local folk rumour about the Thirty Years' War swedish soldiers on one hand and some known historical fact on the other hand. Underlining KNOWN historical fact. More accurate information is lost for 400 years at least.. And that was all I could find about this site today. More information seems to be not available unfortunately.
