Stone Row in Devon

Information for the Little Links Tor alignment comes from the Stone Rows of Great Britain website. It is a single stone row in the northeast of Dartmoor consisting of five medium and large-sized stones and has a length of 74 metres. The site has a sea view, and sits within a landscape of prehistoric settlements and a nearby ring cairn.

The SRoGB entry includes a description, a plan of the row from a survey carried out in May 2017, photographs of the alignment and the individual stones, access information and a list on online resources for more information. They also include photographs illustrating the different landscape features which come into (and out of) view as you progress along the row. They also note: "There are prehistoric settlements and cairns within the vicinity. There is a small chance that the stones represent an unfinished field boundary".

The row is also recorded as part of Pastscape Monument No. 965815, where it is described as "an enclosure, two stone hut circles and an alignment of upright stones 780m north west of Little Links Tor". It is also listed as MDV51434 (Stone alignment near enclosure north-west of Little Links Tor on the Devon and Dartmoor HER, and scheduled as Historic England List Entry No. 1007648 (Enclosure, two stone hut circles and an alignment of upright stones 780m north west of Little Links Tor).

Northern red stone probably upcast during construction of a leat that bisects the row and the southern red stone whilst clearly edge set has no obvious function (Source: Field survey at 1:500 by Janet Daynes, Gordon Fisher and Sandy Gerrard).
