Fron Ucha submitted by pab : Fron Uchaf: looking east over the remains of Fron Uchaf towards Llanstaffan and the Towi Estuary. The site is on the edge of a field whose very curious cattle made it difficult to take measurements - to be added at a later date! (Vote or comment on this photo)

Fron Ucha submitted by pab : Curious cattle, in both senses! The ground around the remaining stones has been deeply trampled. The gleam in their eyes is just an unintentional flash....it being Halloween is merely a coincidence. (3 comments - Vote or comment on this photo)

Even the 2 uprights reported by Vicky in 2002 seem to have collapsed by 2006 - the activity of the very lively and curious livestock may have contributed to this! The site can easily be seen without actually engaging with the cattle, as it is next to the fence above the 'Old Road' out of Llanstaffan.

It was difficult to envisage quite how Fron Uchaf will have looked, but it is on a significant slope which faces East across the estuary. It can be easily located on the RCAHM of Wales site - the only caveat being that the RCAHM 'blue spot' puts it on the wrong side of the lane because of the shortened Grid reference, but using their map and the full reference of SN 34555 10744 should be enough.
