Burial Chamber (Dolmen) in Alentejo

Monte da Barrosinha 3 is a dolmen located in São Miguel de Machede in Evora and is part of megalithic route of the region. Chronologically it can be put in the Neo-Chalcolithic period. This anta is composed of seven pillars in the chamber. The hat is fractured into three parts and is still in place. It also features 13 dimples. The corridor is visible being one of its top covers also in situ. This monument has not yet been classified.
Near by and located East from this site you can also observe other magnificent dolmen (check out Anta do Monte da Barrosinha 2). Located further North you can also visit Anta do Pau.

About the location
The access to the site can be made by car until a certain point, then it's better to do the rest of the way by foot. This monument is in private property but can be visited since the access is open and has indications to the reach the site. The plaques are very old and degradated.

Aditional information:
- You are entering in private property but the access from the road is open. Feel free to enter.
- The entrance to the zone of the monuments may be blocked by fences, they were essentially made to demarcate the land and not allow the escape of livestock. Usually there are spaces in the fences within these demarcated areas where the access is possible. When entering in demarcated land never forget to close the access gate of the location, you need to be very aware because cattle can escape.
- There are no signs prohibiting us from entering so the access can be open but be careful when you explore every time you see this red plaques that alert you for the Hunting Zones. Remind yourself that usually hunters can only hunt at selected hunting days (Thursdays, Sundays and on public holidays).

Thank you for your vote. The Alentejo zone of Portugal is worth a visit for megalithic photographers. Évora is the region with a bigger number of megalithic sites in Portugal. There are hundreds of megalithic monuments hidden everywhere.
