I have visited· I would like to visit

TheCaptain visited on 17th Jul 2005 - their rating: Cond: 2 Amb: 2 Access: 4 This dolmen can be found a few hundred metres down a track to the south west of the village of Trois-Moutiers, where it resides just inside a field which was full of sunflowers when I visited, which meant that i could not get right to the dolmen. What I could see is a large capstone sat on top of some sort of support stones at one end, and the ground at the other.

At the main crossroad in Les Trois Moutiers, you must take towards Thouars. Then you must take the second white path on the left. On the right, you can see Bernazay I. La Pierre Crapaud is on the left on a little hill, with a bush around it.

The farmer has allowed visiting because there are little steps sculptured in the little cliff with a wooden guardrail.

Some say that it is a dolmen, others that it is a menhir.

For a long time, it served as a boundary stone.

For me, when i went around it, it seemed for me more like a capstone. But that is just my opinion.

I'd like to cut off all the bushes but don't know if the owner will appreciate!

My notes from when I visited in July 2005, which I originally entered for the Bernazay Dolmen page.

This dolmen can be found a few hundred metres down a track to the south west of the village of Trois-Moutiers, where it resides just inside a field which was full of sunflowers when I visited, which meant that i could not get right to the dolmen.

What I could see is a large capstone sat on top of some sort of support stones at one end, and the ground at the other.
