Triscombe Stone submitted by Bladup : The Triscombe Stone, It's good to see it's now protected from cars. (Vote or comment on this photo)
The Triscombe Stone probably dates from the Bronze age. It marks a meeting place on the old drovers' road along the Quantock hills in Somerset, between Watchet and Lyme Regis. It has recently been given its own little timber circle to protect it from cars. Modern superstitions about the stone include, if you sit on it, you will be granted a wish.

A very busy place on this lovely sunny Sunday, with perhaps hundreds of youngsters walking along the ridge for their D of E award, a watering point being set up here for them. Sit on it for a wish. Incredible day today! Dafne was awoken early with a bristling in her nethers. We visited the Stone on the off chance and we’re greeted with a showing. The most astonishing phosphorescent halo in the undergrowth and a lilac aperture. Dafne traversed the Portal and was gone for 20 mins while I waited apprehensively with a flask of Bovril and a Walnut Whip. Just as I was done with the marshmallowy filling, there was a fizzing in the air and Dafne emerged looking flushed and not a little confuddled.

I couldn’t get any sense out of her till we got home and she stumbled off to the lavvy. There was a little shriek and she came rushing into the kitchen in a state of some excitement. Seems her tummy button has gone from innie to outie!

She still hasn’t remembered anything about her time with the Other, as far as I can tell. In fact she’s not said much at all, except for something about “Les Dennis ... a perfect gentleman”. Odd.

Anyway, I’m settled down with the last of my Bovril and she’s going like a demon at her knitting machine. It could be a long night.

Shocking dog fouling at the Stone today. Someone had allowed their beast to leave an extremely generous mustardy log on the flange of the Dais. Needless to say, the Portal remained elusive. Barry had brought a chorizo Scotch egg and a Tupperware of turkey samosas but I was feeling queasy and could only manage a Wagon Wheel. Our chart suggests we won’t now get a flicker from the Portal till March 2021 so it’s back to Mauritius for us.
Peace out ✌️

Ventured to the Stone this morning with my associate Majick Barry. He’s finely attuned to the essences in these parts (I understand he was conceived in a Bedford van in this very car park) and he assured me that the Portal would be open shortly after 10.30. There was definitely some sort of disturbance in the field but we weren’t able to clearly discern the Other. Still we had a nice baguette and a pickled egg each in the Blue Ball so not a dead loss. Peace out ✌️

Hello, I get this problem of mis spellings in all computer texts! I even check them before sending too??? My cat got back into my car.
This whole issue has had me thinking about us as mans methods of working the earth. I think firstly we need to know what the planet wants and what the planet needs.

Glad to hear your cat is OK. I am helping to look after 4 kittens at present. Having been involved in anti-quarry protests for many years I can tell you that if you make enough fuss, have support of local people, have enough reason and carry on for long enough you can change anything. Never believe that your voice is not heard. Perhaps you could start a group to try to stop the quarrying or canvas local opinion on them. If the earth could speak (and many would argue that it is already screaming at us) it would be a distressing conversation. We stopped listening a thousand years ago. The earth continues screaming...

What makes you think the earth is displeased? Is it because man has altered it in places? I've heard that northern Europe is rising about an inch a year and it has some high mountains so lets get the stone from there and fill the hole in the quantocks back up with it

Do you think its possible that the planet would like to be smooth? Instead if having lumpy bits called mountains? Or do you think the planet likes the lumpy bits? Or /And are the lumpy bits indicators of the planets wants and needs like a knot on a body that an acupuncturist would massage out. If that's the case then the acquiring of aggregates from planets should be done by shaving off the tops instead of mining

When I drive on roads I have thoughts that are exciting and adventurous. Is this a sign that the planet likes us driving cars? Is this my communication with the planet or me getting excited at the abuse of the planet? (I hope not). Does the planet like us mammals meeting each other and making more and new friends, I suspect it does as its good and we and the planet are one together which seems even more sensible a reason to be the case but with our ability to travel off into space what does that tell us about us and Earth

I went to various places on the quantocks with my cat today but when we got to this place my cat got very scared and ran off and wouldn't come out for hours. In fact it got dark so I prayed for her return and went off for about 15 minutes and when I returned she nervously came out of some bushes and ran straight into my cat looking quite awe struck and vert grateful of my return! This is a special site so it would be nice to see the nearby quarry pack up and move off

Quarries don't go away unless you shout very loud.
Your post has me in stitches. I have been trying to write this for 5 minutes... Do you mean cat, car or horse? I am so confused.
