Burial Chamber (Dolmen) in Central Portugal

The smaller Orca 2 do Ameal is found 200 metres further along from its larger sister Orca 1 do Ameal on the very interesting and well signposted Fiais/Azenha Prehistoric Trail. This trail runs between the villages of Oliveira do Conde and Fiais de Telha north of the town of Carregal do Sal.

Orca 2 do Ameal is around 6000 years old and has a polygonal chamber without a passage and stands in an artificial mound which factors make it different from other sites in this area. It faces away from the vista enjoyed by its near neighbour the Abrigo de Orca.

The road here could be very difficult in wet conditions as it is mud and earth based.
