This hillfort is situated north-east of the Wiltshire village of Broad Blunsdon (also called Burytown), just outside Swindon. Behind St Leonard's church is Burytown Lane. The site is at the end of this lane. There is small place you can park opposite the cemetery, a couple of hundred yards away from the site.
Castle Hillfort is fairly small, but well worth a visit. It has beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. Some locals claim that you can see 7 churches from the peak point on a clear day. Unfortunately we went on a wet and cloudy day. The best part was, that as it's not as popular or well known as other local hillforts we were the only people there.
I can find little information about this site. The local (Swindon) government website just mentions that it's an Iron Age fort. The Geograph website states, "The fort was constructed about 600BC, however worked flints dating back to neolithic times have been found here suggesting human occupation dating back to 4500 BC."
