Closed 25/12/2013 - 01/01/2014 despite all the information saying that it was only closed on Christmas Day. I arrived and found an A4 piece of paper on the entrance with this information. Apparently it is always closed on a Monday.

Alcalar monument 7 submitted by paulcall : A view into the central crypt of monument 7 (in tricky lighting conditions, so a bit of Photoshop-ing was required to bring this to you, dear viewer). The passageway enters the crypt in the top right of the picture. There are three niches in the walls of the crypt, one of which can be seen on the left.

Alcalar monument 7
Alcalar monument 7 submitted by paulcall : A more recent view down the entrance passage than that previously submitted by David Morgan during reconstruction. The passage is now completely roofed over. I am not large, but the inner blocking stones are so close together that entry into the central chamber was impossible. This may have been a deliberate attempt to stop entry when the tomb was reconstructed. (2 comments)

Their are quite a few sites in Portugal of great interest !
This site is very interesting due to the ancient cultures that inhabited the area and its history in the recent past.
For info on the cultures that inhabited this area see authors : G. Leisner and V. Leisner , Also If you can get it ? "Die Meg. der Iberischen Halbinsel"by the same authors.
Pedro Bosch Gimpera (archeologist) see for research on Iberian Peninsula and Celts, etc. although he has been wrong on a few of his conclusions.
Estacio Da Veiga- also of interest & research in this area.

The controversy in its recent past which few are aware is that since its
discovery it has been shrouded in controversy. What was found?, How advanced was this culture ? Exactly what culture was it ? (many theories ? archeologists disagree with each other on who they believe inhabited this area), I believe parts of this site were reconstructed because of the damage mainly due to archeological/and non authorized digging of the site and who is to say that it is reconstructed exactly like it was?
Also I will just say their is also a hidden meaning in the name Alcalar.

To the truth seekers,
All for now !
