A Row of Three Stones in North Uist, one of which has fallen.

These 3 stones stand in an almost straight line WNW-ESE on the lower north-western slopes of Bashaval. None is more than 0.5m high today, but they are embedded in peat and would have previously stood much higher. They are about 15m and 35m apart.

Update October 2019: This row is featured on the Stone Rows of Great Britain website - see their entry for Blathaisbhal (Blashaval), which includes a description, photographs of the row and the individual stones, a plan of the row, access information and illustrations of the landscape views from the row.

The row is also recorded as Canmore ID 10347.

Na Fir Bhreige
Na Fir Bhreige submitted by SandyG : The row is clearly not straight. View from the south east (Scale 1m). Canmore suggests that the row is parallel with the nearby boundary fence and may therefore be a land division boundary. It is clear that it is not parallel with the fence and the fact that it is not perfectly straight enhances a prehistoric interpretation as rows of this form and length are rarely straight.
