Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost
Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost submitted by Martin_L : Pole aerial view from the South. The western chamber part is damaged by historic blasting attempts. According to the eroded, but partly preserved round barrows' size the chamber was not longer, but the western chamber end-stone and the westernmost capstone are robbed. Reference: Sprockhoff, Schwieger 1929 in: Körner, G. (Ed.), Sprockhoff, E. Atlas der Megalithgräber Deutschlands, Teil ... (1 comment - Vote or comment on this photo)

Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost
Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost submitted by Martin_L : Eastern chamber part viewed from the North. Luckily they only destroyed the western part of this chamber. The refined dry-walling is robbed as on most cases, but the perfection of this architecture still is visible. At the inside of the chamber you can get an idea of the stones' original colour. Largely it is red granite. January 2011 (Vote or comment on this photo)

Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost
Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost submitted by Martin_L : Central and eastern chamber part viewed from the NW. Central capstone C2 (to the right in this picture) and C3 are comparatively large with a length of over 4m. According to the lack of any human traces nobody visited here for some days. The snow added to the ambience. December 2009 (Vote or comment on this photo)

Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost
Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost submitted by Martin_L : Damaged by blasting attempts, but still an impressive site. Seen from the West in March 2016. The chamber and its covering barrow are remarkably well preserved in the East while the Western end has been damaged. The central capstone broke as a result of a blasting attempt in the early 20th century. Photo taken with Ihagee Paff Reflex camera from 1921 on Ilford Delta 400 film. (Vote or comment on this photo)

Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost
Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost submitted by Martin_L : Great winter ambience. View towards the remaining eastern part of the originally appr. 8m long chamber. Halfway filled with earth/leaves. Assumed central capstone (C2) is broken in two halves. This probably happened when the western capstone was dynamited and robbed. January 2010

Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost submitted by Martin_L : View inside the remaining part of the 8m long chamber. Halfway filled with earth/leaves, but the ancestor's architecture still is breathtaking. February 2011

Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost
Ahlhorner Kellersteine Ost submitted by Martin_L : The chamber is still partly surrounded by remains of its barrow. Scale 1,83m beside the easternmost capstone at the edge of the barrow (April 2008).
