TheCaptain visited on 30th May 2005 - their rating: Cond: 4 Amb: 3 Access: 3 Signposted as dolmens from the centre of the village of Limogne-en-Quercy, this dolmen is more than a kilometres walk along a trackway. The dolmen is still partly within its mound, and is notable for the thickness of its capstone, which is a rectangular 3 m by 2 m in size, but is a metre thick. The chamber is 2.5 metres by 1.5 metres in size, and opens to the southeast at 121°. Unfortunately, there is quite a bit of rubbish here, with remains of fires, picnics and candles along with all the usual broken beer bottles.

Dolmen de Pech-Lapeyre
Dolmen de Pech-Lapeyre submitted by greywether : This is a photo of a dolmen known in the Lot Inventory as Lac d'Auris. It was signposted from the centre of Limogne-en-Quercy but, I think, simply as "Dolmen". Anyway, the notable thing about Lac d'Auris is the thickness of the capstone - almost 1m and weighing 17 tons. Apparently there is a quarry 300m away with a hole the size of the capstone. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Limogne-en-Quercy, and its surroundings is a village very rich in Burial Chambers. There must be at least 20 within easy reach, of which this is one of the better preserved examples.

This dolmen is still partly within its mound, and is notable for the thickness of its capstone, the size of which is about 3m by 2m rectangular, but nearly a metre thick. The chamber is 2.5m by 1.5m and aligned at 121°.

The dolmen is signposted from the village of Limogne-en-Quercy, but is more than a kilometres walk up a signposted track. Ideal for an off road bike trip, along with many other dolmens in this area !

Unfortunately, when I was here, there was a lot of rubbish strewn around, which included fires and candles, as well as the usual bottles and junk food wrappings, which rather spoiled what could have been a very nice site for an evenings walk.
