TheCaptain visited on 15th Jun 2023 - their rating: Access: 4 A strange looking stone stump in the churchyard at Penzance. All I could really make out is a couple of carved figures on it, until I realised that the cross arms were broken off.

A two tier granite base 0.6m high, and the lower part 1.1m square, supports the upper part of an ornate medieval cross shaft. It is 1.2m high with both arms broken off flush with the shaft which, at the bottom, measures 0.2m by 0.3m in section.
On one face of the broader side there is a Crucifixion relief and on the other side a Christ in Majesty, both damaged. The narrower sides have shoulders below which parallel ribs descend the shaft.
