Chambered Tomb in Sardegna

Megalithic tomb with semicircular arc of 15 stones.

Additional information submitted by Drew Parsons October 2010: This site is dated to the Middle Bronze Age around 1400 BC to 1300 BC. It contains a chamber which once was covered by flat capstones with a second row of stones added above and outside of the capstones to enhance the site. It has a wide forecourt with a bench running around it - the exedra. There is an excellent display board at the site with details of the construction style, excavations and finds which included vases and pots with an impressed comb decoration. The ticket office is adjacent to the site and provides laminated information sheets in various languages which guide you through this and the nearby Selini II tomb. The site is located in the Bosco Seleni Park on the granite plateau at 1000 metres overlooking the hill town of Lanusei. Take the SS198 north west from Seleni towards Gairo and the site is signposted on the left of this road in the Bosco Seleni Park.
