Su Cuaddu 'e Nixias Tomba di Giganti
Su Cuaddu 'e Nixias Tomba di Giganti submitted by SolarMegalith : Site in Sardinia (Sardegna) Italy Long, narrow burial chamber - typical construction of Bronze Age nuragic megalithic tombs (photo taken on September 2010). (Vote or comment on this photo)
The Tomba di Giganti Su Cuaddu 'e Nixias is a splendid example of megalithic tomb from the nuragic period. It is well-known for its 2.90m high stellae with round opening, which according to the legend was been used to tie horses (the name of the site means "Nixias horse"). The tomb is 13.25 m long and it is the shape of a bull's head, typical for nuragic megalithic tombs. The shape is still recognizable, however the capstones of the burial chamber are gone.

To reach Tomba di Giganti Su Cuaddu 'e Nixias you have to follow the road from Lunamatrona to Villanovaforru - the tomb will be visible on your right near the crossing. Alternatively, you can follow the road from Villanovaforru which leads under the bridge, to reach the crossing with a tomb from the South.
