The Keltisches Fürstengrab von Kappel is the grave of a Celtic chieftain in Kappel-Grafenhausen (Baden-Wuertemberg, Germany). The site dates from 620 BC and is one of the oldest Celtic chieftain graves in central Europe.
The grave and the remains of the corresponding burial mound were discovered in 1976. This so called Hügel 3 ("Mound 3") was part of a group of at least two more barrows, which are aligned on a West-East-axis.
While the mound was flattened, the burial chamber was still untouched. However, the wooden chamber had collapsed. The broken artefacts were recovered in plaster. The restoration took 30 years. The 20 restored items include the wheels of a chariot, a drinking-horn and a big bronze Situla.
Today, nothing can be seen at the original site. It was intended to reconstruct the burial mound. However, the plans have not been implemented yet. The finds from the grave are exhibited in the Archäologisches Museum Colombischlössle in Freiburg im Breisgau.
