Tepe Sialk submitted by SolarMegalith : Site in Iran Possible remains of a ziggurat (photo taken on April 2007). (Vote or comment on this photo)
Tepe Sialk is located near the city of Kashan. What remained till nowdays are two cemeteries and large platforms, probably remains of ziggurats. The first activity on the site dates back to 8000 year BC, while the constructions itsef seem to be conected with Zayandeh River Culture which developed in 6th millenium BC

First excavations were started in 30's of 20th century, currently the site is surrounded by suburbs of the Kashan city. There is an excellent small museum displaying finds at the site.

I have corrected the coordinates for this site (previously shown way out in the desert) after my visit there in April 2014. There is a good display of finds at the museum on site and also at the nearby Fin Persian Gardens where the Kashan National Museum is located.
