Sculptured Stone in Russia Stone head in Peterhof — Sculpture of Svyatogor — "Adam's head" — "Old Man" — "Rusich" — "Samson's Head»

In Sergievsky Park — Palace and Park ensemble, located in Peterhof, West of the Palace of Leuchtenberg, in the ravine, by the river Cristatella is buried in the earth a miracle-head, carved from a huge boulder called "The Old Man" or "Adam's Head".

Official version: There was a head, according to historical records, in 1800, with the then owner – Sergei Rumyantsev. The monument was allegedly designed by architect F. Brouer, who worked at the turn of XVII-XVIII centuries in St. Petersburg.

It is possible that somewhere under the ground lies the concealed body of this head (a sculpture), but in a corrupt, broken state, although this is unlikely. It is difficult to explain the proximity of traces of erosion of stone and simultaneously clear lines of stone works of the master. Many researchers agree that there was something else on the head (a knight's helmet, for example). A hole in the nasal septum suggests this option.
Re further excavations, this can only be done by "accredited" institutions and archaeologists. But as you can see, for some reason in our time they are not in a hurry here.

Perhaps a large metal knight's helmet was attached to the hole on the bridge of his nose. We can all see the opening. But no one has seen any such object, or at least there is no mention of it. In July 1818, the young Alexander Pushkin with his friend N. Raevsky Jr. visited the shady ravine near the "sleeping" head. In the poem "Ruslan and Lyudmila", completed in two years, there is a plot, perhaps inspired by impressions of what he saw in Sergievka.

The head is also called "Old Man" or "Adam's head", or "Rusich" and a very rare name — The Sculpture of Svyatogor, also called "Samson's Head". In itself, such a rare variety of names suggests that in the history of these places many legends are woven.
