Museum in Languedoc:Hérault (34)

The Museum is located next to the Lattes archaeological site.

Currently, The Henri Prades Museum shows an exhibition of Statue Menhirs found in the Occitanie region. It will end on 6th March 2023.

"The exhibition presents the beginnings of monumental sculpture in Occitania through some twenty menhir statues assembled in an exceptional way. These carved menhirs, dating from the late Neolithic period (3200 – 2500 BC), represent a human being through some physical attributes, clothing elements or objects. In the light of recent researches that allow to better restore these monoliths to their surroundings, the visitor will discover the Neolithic society, as well as the place these statues occupied in their relationship to the territory and their ancestors." The 108 page exhibition catalogue can be downloaded from the Museum homepage.
