Ancient Village or Settlement in Aydın Province, Turkey
A Carian city founded in the 3rd century BCE. Amyzon, which had first been the supporter of Ptolemy and then of Seleucus, made a bilateral agreement with Herakleia under Latmos at the end of the 2nd century BCE. Antiochos III stated with the message he sent to Amyzon in 203 BCE that he approved the privileges of the city. And the authority for protecting the people who took refuge in the Apollo and Artemis temples was among these privileges. The ramparts of the city still remain standing and it is built with isodomic ashlar blocks. There are remains of the Apollo and Artemis temples, ramparts, underground rooms with the arched vaults.
