Chamaizi submitted by sem : Looking NE to Sitia. There have been suggestions that earlier layers here were either a look-out post or a peak sanctuary. (Vote or comment on this photo)
Ancient Village or Settlement in Crete

A Middle Minoan building from c2000BC, Chamaizi is unusual as it is oval in shape. The first excavation there in 1903 found a metalwork hoard.
As there are no springs nearby, it has been built around a man-made cistern.

Chamaizi submitted by sem : Chamaizi The 4x4 was not required as there is now a concrete road from the main highway, plus THREE signposts along the way. In Crete, that is miracle!! (Vote or comment on this photo)
