Stone Fort or Dun in Finland
Hankopalo is one of seven structures listed as being a Giant’s Church, but not yet confirmed as one. Sited in the Ii region it is one of around 50 Neolithic stone structures found only in Ostrobothnia in Western Finland.
Google Earth shows us this structure now surrounded by dense forest, with lakes to the south and east. The official records for the Cultural Environment Agency tell us there is an oval ring of barriers (walls) some 8 metres by 12 metres, with dykes/ditches which vary from 2 to 4 metres in width (doesn't clarify whether these are internal or external). These walls have a height of between 30 to 50 cms.
In 2012, a survey added that "(the) stone circle is located on the highest point of a northern slope. It corrects the dimensions to 11 m x 8.5 metres, with a wall height of between 50 to 60 cms and an internal flat area of approximately 4 x 2.5 metres. The size of the stones making up the wall varies between 10 to 40 cms. This survey adds that nearby is an excavated pit, surrounded by a low wall, some 2.8 metres in diameter and 0.7 metres in depth.
