Museum in Czech Republic

The Anthropos Pavilion / Moravian Museum went through a substantial reconstruction and enlargement and has been re-opened to the public since June 30, 2006. The permanent exhibition on the oldest history of the settlement in Moravia as well as on the whole European continent consists of three parts : "Moravian Hunters and Gatherers", "The oldest Art of Europe" and "Palaeolithic Technologies".  The new permanent exhibition presents up-to-date discoveries from the field of archaeology, anthropology, genetics etc., and proposes interactive presentations ; it also contains several dioramas and reconstructions of the environment and life of Paleolithic hunters and gatherers.

Even more than the Archeopark at Pavlov, the Anthropos Pavilion at Brno is a MUST for any visitor of the capital of Moravia -- even those only slightly interested in the evolution of mankind.  Unfortunately, little is translated, so you have to ask for the audio guide (provided for free).  Spare at the very least one hour, but preferably more.

Coordinates = entrance to the car park : (49.1928, 16.5653).  From there, about 100 m to walk.
As the museum is located in a park, at a busy T-junction, you might easily overlook it when driving by, so watch out.
Open all year round : Tue-Fri : 9 - 18 ; Sat-Sun : 10 -18 ; Mon : closed.
Bookshop, cafeteria, boutique.
