This site with rock carvings are one of the best preserved and well-known rock carvings from early stone age we have in Norway. It is believed to be older than most of the carvings in Norway, dating back to 6000-7000 BC.

It consists of a number of animal figures outlined in a natural-size pattern, the whale figure is 7,2 meters long.

The technique used is also very different from most of the rock carvings we know about from scandinavia! it is actually not carved, but ground into the rocks, using maybe sand and water among with harder stones. This is a technique known from 8 sites in Norway only. All of them in Northern Norway.

The carvings consist of moose, raindeer, red deer, whale figures, fish figures, bears and also a hare.

It is also in a beautiful landscape and nature overlooking the Tysfjord. The terrain around is a small forest with pine trees.
