Ancient Village or Settlement in Honshū
One of Jōsaku (城柵) vanguard fortress built in the unexplored area in Tōhoku (north-eastern) region where native “Emishi” tribe lived. Although the “mokkan”, wooden tablet with India ink inscription, excavated here caused the motivation for the mokkan investigation for archaeological and historical studies, but strangely no articles on this fortress can be found in Japanese historical records so the argument on this ‘mystic’ fortress still continues.
