Barrow Cemetery in Bohemia

In the pine tree forest called "Chlum", east of the village Sepekov is located one of the most important from barrow cemeteries in southern Bohemia. The site was used in the Middle Bronze Age (1600 BC) and then later in Hallstatt Time. It was completely excavated...and to be honest...pretty much destroyed in the second half of the 19th century. The current state of the site preservation illustrates the destructiveness of earlier ways of archaeological excavations. Up to 65 barrows of different sizes can be identified by now. Among rich archaeological findings belong large number of weapons, jewellery and even a piece of silk.
