Chambered Cairn in Honshū

40 chambered cairns were discovered in the western suburb of Tokyo. A few of them were reconstructed in a preserved wood surrounded by a fence.

Cairn no.32 was moved and is now preserved, mislabeled as cairn no.1, in Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum (江戸東京たてもの園 Edo Tōkyō Tatemono-en 35.71661N,139.51105E) along with modern and wooden architectures.

The red house behind the cairn is the house of an immigrated german architect Georg De Lalande (1872-1914), and a Czech architect Jan Letzel (1880-1935), well-known as the designer of the Hiroshima Atomic Bomb Dome, worked at De Lalande's office and lived in this house during the De Lalande's temporary return to his homeland.
