Modern Stone Circle / Monolith in Honshū

Originally manufactured as a memorial tablet praising the contribution of a Buddhist priest, but the inscription and transportation has been long abandoned since 1881. Some people attribute the cause to being short of finance the other attribute to lack of man power to cross the heavy stone over a river in a valley toward the temple on the opposite bank. Despite of short of power, the monolith is placed on a hill top.

"mumei-no daisekitō" is not a proper noun but literally arrangement of words 'nameless big stone pillar'.

Hakushū village is known for the whiskey brewery and situated on the one of the 5 old highways in samurai era, Kōshū Kaidō.
