In a mountain near Ashizuri-misaki (足摺岬) cape, the southernmost point of Shikoku island, there is an outstanding outcrop of white granite. Some people seriously believe that this is an artificial monument and the playground at the foot of it was originally surrounded by a huge stone circle.
There is another outcrop in the bush (32.94588N,132.99348E), 2km away from the site, they also believe the phallus-shaped stone among them is an artificial monument, too.
“Ashizuri” implies ‘step back’ + “misaki” means ‘cape’ = ‘Cape Fear’?
