Gakuen-ji temples complex submitted by Aska : Site in Honshū Japan Ruin of sub-temple Zeshin-in (是心院) ruin (35.42229N, 132.74944E) (Vote or comment on this photo)
An old temple in the mountainous forest behind Izumo Taisha grand shrine where many visitors come only in the season of burning trees. The temple was built in late 6th century, developed into a huge temples complex and then declined in the 17th century. Some of sub-temples in its precinct contain a ruin of dry landscape gardens, but it is difficult to distinguish each area of them because all their building has been collapsed out.

Open 8:00 -16:15, admission 500 Japanese Yen (2024 price)
