According local legend the cross commemorates the death of the peasant under overturned wagon.
Volcano Komorní Hůrka itself is magnificent geological phenomenon which attracts large number of experts over more then 200 years. One interesting event associated with the place: J.W.Goethe also contributed significantly to the geological research of the volcano. He visited the place several times and initiated digging a deep pit inside the hill for the purpose of scientific investigation.
