The original monument consisted of sandstone which was not friable and resistant to weathering. A one to one copy made of artifical stone has been installed at the site to present the monument to the public.
Next to the altar the reconstruction of the round barrow is situated. The original mound was removed during the first excavations in 1913. The mound is surrounded by a ring of stones.
