Useful Museum near Braunschweig, covering prehistory from the time of the Neanderthals to the capture by Charlemagne.
There is a supperb collection of stone axes and a reconstructed chambered tomb.
Display panels give you useful hints of megalith's locations in the area.

The fine stone axes mark the transition from the neolithic to the Bronze age, as craftsmen tried to copy the shape of Bronze double axes using traditional stone materials.
