Minster Gatehouse Museum is housed in a 1000 year old grade 1 listed building adjacent to the historic Minster Abbey. Many fascinating local artefacts with connections to the Isle Of Sheppey, fossils and a view from the roof are just some of the attractions.

Most of the exhibits are up one or two flights of stairs and the roof is accessed from a narrow spiral staircase.
Open Saturdays and Wednesdays 2pm - 4.30pm, April to Sept approx
Very inexpensive entrance fee.

Although modern museums are great in the way they clearly display their artifacts and often encourage children to get involved, there is a certain charm in such places as this. There is more of a connection to the people who collected the items, probably mostly amateurs, with the museum itself often run by volunteers. Long may they survive!
