Axes and scrapers of St. Acheul II types, hammer stones, large numbers of untrimmed flakes and massive cores were found on a flint working site excavated in 1924 in a chalk quarry near Frindsbury Church, at a height of 102 ft. O.D.

The quarry in which this Palaeolithic flint working site was discovered has been greatly enlarged but the quarry foreman stated that to the best of his knowledge no further finds had been noticed during quarrying. Implements from this site were seen in Rochester Museum where they were classified as Chellean, Acheulian and Mousterian.
This quarry is now disused and a factory built on its site."

There are other disused chalk quarries in the immediate area.
