Holy Well or Sacred Spring in Kent

Spring associated with a complex of Roman temples. The spring still exists but nothing remains of the temples which were excavated in the twentieth century. A garden center called Spring Head Nursery is on the approximate site of the complex. Nearby at TQ 6174 7246 was the Roman settlement of Vagniacae. It is speculated that this town was associated with the Temple complex. A number of other Roman remains have been found in the vicinity including cemeteries. Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Iron Age and Saxon remains have been found around in this area over the years.
